Hello and welcome to the Getting Down and Dirty with Your Allotment blog!

This is a blog dedicated to the world of allotments, and a place where I am going to document my journey of taking over an allotment plot.

For christmas my girlfriend bought me a plot at our local allotment, and since then we have made steady progress! But we realised we only knew bits and bobs about managing a plot. So we bought books, looked up websites and spoke to the old and wise, and we thought… Why not share our experience to help people in our situation?

As we begin to plan, develop and grow on our allotment, our hope is not only to document our good and bad experiences, but to get some good advice from people who know what they are doing!

We hope this blog will allow the information to get out there, and get people of all ages and backgrounds digging!
